If you haven’t heard, Microsoft will no longer be offering support for Windows 10 as of October 14th. You may think that this is far into the future, or that it’s not a big deal for your business.
But it’s not – and it is.
Here’s a list of risks you’re opening yourself up to by not upgrading before Windows 10's end of life, in order of most obvious to least obvious.
You’re vulnerable to ransomware and phishing attacks
With the ending of support for Windows 10, Microsoft will no longer be providing any updates or security patches. That means that hackers, scammers, and scoundrels of all kinds can use known exploits and breaches to either access your system or to trick your staff into giving up costly information.
And if you stay on Windows 10, that risk is never going to go away.
Your software might no longer work
As new programs get released and existing software gets updated, older versions of Windows will become less and less compatible with any systems your business might be using.
When was the last time you’ve seen an app that supports Windows 7?
Exactly.
By not upgrading to Windows 11, there’s a strong possibility that your business may be disrupted as key infrastructure gets updated to phase out Windows 10.
You might no longer be compliant
If you work in a heavily regulated industry, you’re already fully aware of how much of a headache compliance can be. Now imagine that headache multiplied by every computer in your business.
Upgrading now will save you a lot of inconvenience and possibly major downtime down the line.
Your insurance may not cover you
Finally, and this one might come as a surprise to you – some insurance policies may be voided if it turns out you’ve suffered a loss as a result of outdated IT infrastructure.
Your individual policy and provider may vary of course, but why give them any reason at all to deny your claim?
Here’s where we come in
In the coming weeks, we’ll be sending our MSP clients a report on their existing IT infrastructure, and highlight any machines that need to be upgraded from Windows 10.
From there, we’ll ensure everything is backed up accordingly, and schedule in convenient times to carry out the installations.
When you get back online, everything will be right as you left it, including any programs and connected networks or devices. But just in case they aren’t, we’re just a phone call away for any ongoing support you might need.
Sounds simple, right? That’s because with us, it is.
If you’re not an MSP client of ours and aren’t sure where to start with your Windows 11 upgrade, get in touch! We’d love to have a chat and find out how we can help your business make the transition as smoothly as possible.
